ACCESS College Foundation: Vice-President for Development

Reports to:  President and CEO Status:  Exempt

Description:

The Vice-President for Development (VPD) reports directly to the President and CEO and participates as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.   The VPD is responsible for the management of the Development Department and a comprehensive fundraising program.  The VPD shall provide leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination for all fundraising and communications efforts.  The VPD works closely with the CEO, Board’s Development Committee and Marketing Committee Chairs, and other key staff and volunteers to achieve the organization’s fundraising goals.  This position follows the schedule for the ACCESS Main Office, which is generally Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.  There are times that after-hours and weekend work will be required.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and a robust benefits package is available.

Minimum Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree.  Five years of experience as a Development Director or other high-level position in a development department or fundraising environment.  Excellent written and oral communication skills a must.  Excellent computer skills, especially in Word, Excel, Outlook, Raiser’s Edge/NXT and other relational database programs.  Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License and maintain a good driving record. Must have own transportation. Bending, lifting, and other physical activity may be required at times.  Must be able to lift, push, or pull a minimum of fifty pounds from one location to another, as well as stand and sit for prolonged periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:

A master’s degree.  Professional experience in a nonprofit organization with demonstrated success in managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Development Leadership and Engagement: In conjunction with the President and CEO, establish development strategies, including an annual fundraising plan, and administer and oversee the implementation of all fundraising efforts.

  2. Development Department Management: Create and oversee the implementation of the Development Department’s annual strategic plan and facilitate the plan into an actionable calendar of project timelines.

  3. Grant Management: Oversee the research and writing of grants as well as the review and final approval prior to submission.

  4. Communications, Marketing, and Special Events: Oversee the production and publication of all electronic and printed materials, including, but not limited to- Annual Report, solicitations, invitations, brochures, etc.  Coordinate public relations and marketing efforts as well as special events.

  5. Financial: Oversee development of annual departmental budget and maintain expense versus budget spreadsheet.
